The Sookmyung Institute of Global Governance (SIGG) is the largest international social science research institute within the Sookmyung Women’s University based in Seoul, Republic of Korea (ROK). Established in 2005 and designated as one of the eight governmental in-house think-tanks by the Ministry of Education (ROK), the SIGG conducts in-depth research that leads to creative and innovative ideas for government and society at the local, national and global level.
The SIGG currently brings over seventy leading experts in government and academia including twelve full-time researchers, seventeen fellows, and twenty regular staffs who provide the highest quality research, policy recommendations, and analysis on a full range of academic and policy issues. In order to encourage intellectual interaction among a diverse international community of scholars and practitioners, the SIGG sponsors a wide array of seminars, research programs, fellowships, publications, workshops, and conferences.
CGHRD & CIPS
The SIGG, headed by Executive Director (ED), consists of the Steering Committee (SC), the Center for Global Human Resources Development (CGHRD), the Center for International Peace and Security (CIPS), and the Administrative Office. The SC, comprised of ED, faculty affiliates, and full-time researchers, monitors and evaluates all the SIGG's activities.
